Atlanta Opera's High School Opera Institute is now accepting applications

The Atlanta Opera's High School Opera Institute is now accepting applications. This program is designed for high school voice students in grades 10-12 looking to pursue a career in music. Students will audition in September, and those selected into the program will attend workshops and coachings throughout the year with our faculty (Walter Huff, Beverly Blouin, Stephanie Adrian, and Laura English-Robinson). The students also attend working rehearsals for each of our mainstage productions as well as final dress rehearsals at the Cobb Energy Centre. The goal of this program is to not only provide the students with individual instruction, but to also provide them with the opportunity to see how a professional opera company works and the different components and stages in the process for a mainstage production.

You can read more about the High School Opera Institute program on The Atlanta Opera blog, in an article featuring the 2010-2011 participants.

The application deadline for the 2011-2012 school year is September 9, and can be found athttp://atlantaopera.org/media/pdf/HSOI_Application1112.pdf. If you have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to contact The Atlanta Opera's Education Department at 404-881-8881 or education@atlantaopera.org.
